Font Poster
Layout
I wanted to give the poster natural eye flow. I didn't want to make the viewer feel like there eyes were breaking at unnatural points, and jumping all around. I wanted it to feel like very easy breaks when the viewer wants to move to the next object in the poster. First, the user looks at the design, the TG with the flourish. Then to the name, Trade Gothic Next, next to the font examples, and then to the information. I did not want to overwhelm the viewer with the audience right off the bat, if they were interested in knowing more about the font they could search that far, if not, they are free to see the examples and go on about their business.
Color Scheme
Originally I was thinking of doing a bland color scheme to reflect the sturdy standard feeling of Trade Gothic Next. But instead I decided to go with something that would stand out to the audience. I chose red because it has emotion involved with it, but when you tone down the saturation and make it darker it becomes a strong, confidant color, rather than an overly emotional and angry color.
Designs
I chose to give the design some flourishes. The font is a pretty boring one, I needed to do something that would catch the viewers eye and give them a chance to look at the redeeming qualities of Times Gothic Next. I used these flourishes in the T and coming out of the G. These designs server to be eye catchers, and bring viewers that may just be passing by, and gets them to look closer at the rest of the design.
